MODERN DAY FILIPINO NATIONALISM

Most of the Filipinos today tend to forget our own culture because of  the spreading of other foreign cultures. Just because we've been dealt a certain hand, it doesn't mean that we can't choose to rise above - to conquer the boundaries of a destiny that none of us wanted. To try to retain whatever essential humanity we can. (c:Stephenie Meyer 2012). The Philippines is a very beautiful country so as Filipinos, we should not abuse its beauty nor forget that this is our own beloved country. Since I am also a Filipino, I can show my love for my country by creating articles that emphasize the beauty of our nation. Media is a very useful way for spreading my ideas as a Filipino. I can post articles that contains the beauty of the Philippines and our very attractive way of living up our Philippine culture through different types of media such as internet, magazines, and newspapers.

As a Filipino, I've got a lot of ideas about my own nation. Another way to show my love for my nation is by living and never forgetting the culture and life that the Filipinos once lived. The Filipinos did their best to keep the Philippines as our country today. Since they did their best, we, modern Filipinos, should also do our best to keep the culture the past Filipinos once gained. If we study more about our nationalism, we could completely see the beautiful and the good characteristics of our nation. Until now, Filipinos are known to be friendly and cheerful but unfortunately, other Filipinos are not proud pf their nation but when they heard that the Filipinos have good characteristics, they are inspired to act like a true one. Although I am just spreading my ideas through media, I am sure that my fellow Filipinos have their own ways to express their love for our nation.

To be honest, I am fond of listening to foreign music to the point that I begin to learn things about their culture as well. However, there's still something about OPM (Original Philippine Music) that I find very interesting. My point here is, foreign cultures, dramas, clothes and music may have already been popular and extremely trending, we Filipinos should appreciate what's ours because when the time comes we will someday need it for any use.

“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children's children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
-Theodore Roosevelt
